Hoax job opportunities with Rio Tinto
Recently Rio Tinto became aware of hoax newspaper advertisements for employment opportunities with Rio Tinto. Respondents to the advertisements were taken through a false recruitment process, purportedly for employment opportunities in Western Australia (which, upon enquiry, mentioned Rio Tinto mines), and were asked to make an upfront payment to cover airfares and other expenses. These advertisements were not placed by Rio Tinto and the recruitment process was in no way endorsed by Rio Tinto.
